The murder of Sarah Everard: –

The policeman who is charged with the murder of 33-year-old Sarah Everard in London in March has admitted the murder. It writes Sky News.

He pleaded guilty in a hearing on Friday.

He has previously admitted to abducting and raping her, and in June, former police officer Wane Couzen took responsibility for the abduction and rape.

Sarah Everard was on her way home from a friend when the policeman abducted her in a rental car.

The murder led to large demonstrations against, among other things, violence against women. These were intensified when the police this spring broke a memorial service for Everard by force, because it broke the corona rules.

– Gets Nausea

Police Chief Cressida Dick says, according to Sky News, that she has given a personal apology to Everard’s family, and says on behalf of the police that they are all shaken.

– We get nauseous, angry and feel betrayed by this man’s deeds. They are absolutely awful, and everyone in the police feels betrayed, she says.

Prosecutor Tom Little told the court that Couzens had never met Everard.

– He did not know her and had no direct or indirect contact with her. They were completely strangers to each other, he says.

– “As I deserve”

It has now also emerged that Couzens constructed a cover story when he was first arrested.

He claimed that he had gotten into financial trouble, and that he owed money to an Eastern European gang that threatened him and his family. They therefore demanded that he deliver a girl to them, because he had not been able to make up for it.

He told police that after kidnapping Everard, he had delivered her alive to three Eastern European men in a van in Kent.

The lawyer for the police officer, Jim Sturman, says in court today that Couzens says that he is guilty of the murder of Everard.

– He confesses to the murder today, and says that he regrets what he did. As he said to us this morning, he will feel guilty for the rest of his life. As he himself says, “as I deserve,” says Sturman.

It has been decided that there will be a two-day hearing from 29 September.
