Forensic scientists are working to clarify all the circumstances of the pre-trial investigation production about the death of a 64-year-old man from a home for the elderly in the Chaika resort complex near Varna, Monitor reports.
The suspect in the crime is a 79-year-old resident of the home.
The conflict between them arose because of a relationship with a woman from the same home. The suspect in the murder is currently being held in a specialized psychiatric hospital in Varna.
The signal for the incident with the deceased man was submitted yesterday morning by the manager of the Home for the Elderly “St. George”, announced by the OD of the Ministry of Interior – Varna. During the on-site inspection, forensic experts found traumatic injuries on the man’s body.
According to staff, the murder suspect did not remember anything about what happened. According to sources from the investigation, the two elderly men had mental problems – bipolar disorder and dementia.
On July 11, in the wee hours of the same day, a fire broke out in the room of Stamen Stamatov, born in 1932, in the same home for the elderly. According to the nurse, the man was not in good mental condition and often raged.
He caused a short circuit after pulling cables from the air conditioner in the room. He was burned and died of suffocation. The second floor, from the room where the fire started, was completely gassed. Eight people were taken to the Naval Hospital and St. Marina Hospital. Three of them died later.
