The Multimillion-Dollar Empire of Chef Cyril Lignac: Restaurants, TV Shows, and Books

Between his restaurants, his television shows and his works, the most famous cook in Aveyron has offered himself a comfortable mattress for his old age. We detail.

Cooking can pay off big, provided you put the quality into it. And the most well-known chef in Aveyron, Ruthénois Cyril Lignac, can testify to this. But to fill your piggy bank in the gastronomic world, you have to start early, focus on quality, and seize the opportunity that presents itself. Thus, after an already top-notch training (chef), when he opened his first Parisian restaurant, the Fifteenth in 2005, at the age of 28, Cyril Lignac was lucky enough to be followed in the beginnings of this adventure by the M6 cameras for the show “Top chef”. Since then, the cameras will no longer leave his kitchen.

Today, Cyril Lignac runs six restaurants in Paris, one in London, plus six pastries and a chocolate factory in his name. On the income generated by Cyril Lignac with all his establishments, all we can say is that a chef in a bistronomic restaurant earns around €3,000 per month. But it is not by this activity that his fortune was made. A fortune estimated by Capital at €4.5 million in 2013, then €10 million in 2020.

TV side

“Top Chef”, then “The best pastry chef” or “Tous en cuisine” which made his return on Monday August 7 on M6 : on average, Cyril Lignac would receive around €20,000 per month for his programs, and €250,000 per season.

Book side

A prolix author, it is strangely there that one must seek the main source of income of the favorite chef of the French. Cyril Lignac has authored no less than 43 books, including quite a few bestsellers. A plumitive activity which would have brought him between 5.6 and 10 million euros, according to the sources.

Other optional income

Other possible sources of income for the Ruthénois bulimic, advertising (at least between 15,000 and 25,000 € for a chef, according to Boursorama), and possible dividends from social networks for his services as an influencer (he is one of the most followed chefs on Twitter -more than 380,000 subscribers- and Instagram -more than 3 million subscribers-) . Without forgetting restaurant “consulting” (for equipment, layout, training of kitchen teams, creation of the menu, etc.) which can exceed €100,000. And a few others…

A “little earner” against Aveyron bistros

But Cyril Lignac’s fortune is all relative, if we compare it to the Aveyron bistro and lemonade makers who are among the 500 greatest fortunes in France in 2023, according to July’s Challenges magazine. A fortune that they went to glean on the counters of the capital.

With 550 million euros, Jean-Louis Costes is in 240th place of these 500 biggest fortunes, details Aveyron.com. His older brother Gilbert is 319th with around €400 million. Next come brothers Guy and Christian Tafanel (411th, €300 million) and other brothers, Pierre and André Richard (466th, €250 million).

But beware, Cyril Lignac has not yet tried to make wine or lemonade!
