It has already been reported that in this concert program you will be able to enjoy the hits of classical music, which will be complemented by an impressive light and video show created by Latvia’s leading artists. Both pianists will take the stage at the concert Vestards Šimkus, and violinist Darja Smirnova and Liepaja Chamber Orchestra.

The decision to postpone the concert is linked to the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions that are still in place. All purchased tickets are valid for the new date.

In this sound and light concert event dedicated to the seasons, pianist Vestards Šimkus will play Pēteris Vasks ‘large-scale piano cycle “Seasons”, for which a special light show consists of Mārtiņš Feldmanis, who has twice received the “Players’ Night” award as the best light artist of the year.

“Seasons” written by Pēteris Vasks for several years began in 1980 with “White Landscape” – a meditation created in the spirit of minimalism by the Baltic composers of that time, where only a few sounds were used. In 1981, the composer created a much more extensive, dramatically active composition “Autumn Piano Music”, while in 1995 it was followed by the natural sound scene “Spring Piano Music”, but the work entitled “Summer” was written by Vasks in 2009.

In the second part of the concert, Darja Smirnova will be on stage – one of the brightest violinists of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, who together with the Liepaja Chamber Orchestra will play a world classic – Antonio Vivaldi’s cycle of four violin concerts. Vivaldi’s “Seasons” is one of the most popular opuses of classical music, which has experienced many recordings and interpretations around the world.

“Composing this later such famous music, Vivaldi has sincerely had fun drawing natural and everyday scenes, and recording a verbal transcript in the score. There is no lack of harmony or imagination in these compositions,” the organizers write.

Latvia’s most outstanding video artists Artis Dzērve, Ineta Sipunova, Vikijs (Viktors Keino) and Minus Eight (Andris Vētra) are each preparing a special 3D video performance for their season, which will add an extra dimension to the famous Vivaldi music.

Tickets for the concert “Seasons” are available in all “Biļešu paradīze” sales points and on the Internet.
