The MTA Nostalgia tours resume

So-called MTA Nostalgia Holiday Trips have resumed this year after being put on hold due to the pandemic, according to the New York Museum of Transportation.

On this occasion it will be the ‘Train of Many Colors’ which will travel along the 1 line from the Chambers Street station to West 137th Street-City College, on various Sundays from 10:00 to 17:30

These “many colors” floats are part of the “Kingdom of the Red Birds” exhibit, a reference to the colorful floats introduced in the 1960s.

The trips started last Sunday and will continue for another three Sundays: 4, 11 and 18 December.

The Holiday Nostalgia Train will make stops on the local Line 1 platform between Chambers St and 137 St-City College:

The Train of Many Colors features a selection of cars made in the 1960s: the R-33, R-33WF and R-36 cars. Featuring bird reds ‘Tartar Red’ and ‘Gunn Red’, Kale Green ‘Green Machines’, blue and silver ‘Platinum Mist’, and striking two-tone robin’s egg blue and cream ‘Bluebird’ colourways, the festive Holiday Nostalgia Train represents different eras in the history of the New York City subway.
