The MRC des Appalaches declares its support for health personnel

The mayors of the 19 municipalities of the MRC des Appalaches adopted a resolution, during a public meeting held on Wednesday, June 8, to support the Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists of the Thetford Hospital as well as the nursing staff following their exit regarding the temporary merger of the medical and surgical units.

“We believe that everything stems from local governance. We always come back to that, underlined the prefect Jacynthe Patry. If the system was organized differently and local people had a say, decisions like this might be harder to make. We would really go with the needs of professionals and citizens. »

The region’s elected officials also deplore the loss of services. “The distances to be traveled to receive certain care, whether in Lévis or elsewhere, are regrettable for our citizens,” added Ms. Patry.

The latter also thanked the health personnel for her exit and for having highlighted this situation. “I think these people are in the best position to understand the situation. The public must also support them. »
