The moving surprise of a caregiver to a widower in a nursing home

Millions of internet users have been touched by the magnificent gesture of a 17-year-old caregiver who wanted to surprise Ken, 94, a resident of a nursing home in Britain.

Kia Tobin is a 17 year old young woman who works in a home located in Preston, England. She noticed that Ken Bembow, a 94-year-old resident, fell asleep every night hugging a photo of his wife, Aida, who died last August at the same establishment.

A wonderful surprise

Ken and Aida had celebrated their 71 years of marriage and the disappearance of his wife leaves a huge void in the life of the nonagenarian. Touched by the fact that Ken fell asleep with the portrait of his late wife, the young caregiver had the idea to take a photo of the portrait with his smartphone and print it on a cushion.

“She is with me all the time now”

When she gave this gift to Ken, the man burst into tears. “When she gave me this gift, I returned it and there was my dear wife. She’s with me all the time now, I’m so happy, ”said Ken. ” That’s wonderful. I owe it all to Kia, ”he added.

A colleague from Kia filmed this moving surprise. The video has already been viewed more than 12 million times and has deeply moved many internet users around the world.

We know our residents are missing their loved ones at this time but let’s not forget those who sadly aren’t here with us anymore. Today, one of our lovely staff Kia Mariah Tobin gave Ken a pillow with his beloved wife on who we also cared for. Safe to say we all shed a tear with Ken today. Lots of love, your Thistleton Lodge family ????????
