The film is set in the Southwest region. The story is about Mr. Ba Chanh’s family with 3 children: An, Phuoc, Lanh. When Tet comes, Mr. and Mrs. Ba call their children home to reunite, but An and Phuoc both have their own things to do, only Lanh is very happy.
Lanh, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ba, is the only one excited to return home to celebrate Tet. However, she made Mr. Ba the angriest when she brought her overseas Vietnamese boyfriend, Paul, home to meet her. Mr. Ba, who has prejudices about overseas Vietnamese, is determined to prevent his daughter’s love story. Furthermore, Mr. Ba wants Lanh to marry Hien, a gentle and honest boy from the same hometown. While Mr. Ba supported Hien, Mrs. Ba favored Paul, causing many funny and sad stories.
An earnestly wanted to return home to celebrate Tet with his elderly parents, but Chau, his wife, firmly objected. She believes that she is not suitable for the lifestyle in the countryside and is not liked by her mother-in-law. Finally, because of the incident of not being able to buy a plane ticket and also because she realized her husband’s sadness, Chau was forced to agree to return home. However, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship is even more tense because their lifestyles and ways of living are so different.
Phuoc cannot return to his hometown to celebrate Tet because his business is at a loss and he is in debt. Even so, he still tried to appear successful to reassure his parents in the countryside. Every day, Phuoc had to run away from aggressive debt collectors, living in a state of anxiety and fear. In the end, he decided to return home to face reality. However, his debt caused Mr. and Mrs. Ba to struggle, causing the family to fall into difficulty.
The film Tet Reunion explores the daily life of rural families during Tet, with humorous conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, contrasting concepts between urban and rural areas, and the love between two fathers. Mr. Tu’s children and nieces and nephews.
Movie Tet together directed by Vuong Quang Hung will air at 20:00 from Monday to Saturday every week on THVL1, starting from January 26.
