Drone warfare is now a reality. Unmanned aerial vehicles are now the undisputed protagonists of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Kiev’s airstrikes are stressing Moscow’s defenses and Ukraine’s defense systems are also responding well to enemy attacks. In fact, several Russian drones have been intercepted and it is for this reason that the Kremlin has explored a new strategy to “blackout” the attacks. Aerial images captured the remotely piloted planes in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Move to confuse them and be able to penetrate the defense.
The drone war
Last night the Russian forces launched 000 drones of various types over Ukraine, 66 of which were shot down by the air defenses of Kiev: the Air Force of Ukraine announced this on Telegram, adding that several unmanned aircraft hit civilian infrastructure.
The destroyed drones were captured in Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kiev, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions. Another 24 drones were lost, and four returned to Russia or went to Belarus. Likewise, the air defense forces intercepted 21 Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh and Kursk regions during the night. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Russia, specifying “last night, when the Kiev regime tried to carry out terrorist attacks using air-type UAVs against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation, the air defense systems in service in the country. destroyed 13 on the territory of Belgorod region, 6 on the territory of the Bryansk region, 1 on the territory of the Voronezh region and 1 on the territory of the Voronezh region Kursk,” they said.
Russian drones in Romania
However, Russia’s threat is not limited to actions on Ukrainian soil. Moscow is now continuously active on NATO’s eastern flank. In recent days, Romania has been under scrutiny. The latest case dates back to about ten days ago, with the Romanian Army’s radar surveillance system reporting a small aerial target in an area off the Black Sea, about 45 kilometers east of the city Sfantu George. Four military planes took off and the radar signal showed the end of Romanian territory around 4 in the morning, in the area of Gura Portiţei. The F-16 and F-18 pilots had no visual contact with the target and the radar signal was lost south of the town of Cogealac, around 4.30 am. After identifying the target moving on a route towards the border of the Romanian state, the structures of the Extended Combat Service of the Air Police under the command of NATO and later the Air Police under the national command were activated, according to notification of procedures sent to the Ministry of Defence. To monitor the situation, two F-18 aircraft of the Spanish Air Force, from the 57th air base in Mihail Kogălniceanu, and two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, from the 86th air base in Borcea , off.
