Where does the mouth mask disappear?
• Education: From October 1, the mouth mask obligation for teachers and students in secondary education and teachers in primary education in Flanders will disappear.
• Work: anyone who works in Flanders must no longer wear a mouth mask in the workplace from 1 October. Anyone who works in Brussels or Liège must still wear a mouth mask at work.
• Horeca: both customers and staff no longer have to wear a mouth mask in a cafe or restaurant. In Brussels and Liège, the obligation still applies here.
• Stores: no more masks in the shops and shopping centers, except in Brussels and Liège.
• Events with less than 500 visitors inside: no corona pass or mouth masks are needed here. Social distancing should no longer be maintained. At events with more than 500 people inside or more than 750 outside, either the corona pass or the mouth mask and social distancing are required.
Where do I still have to wear a mouth mask?
• Public transport: from 1 October, wearing the mouth mask is still mandatory on public transport, in the airplane, in public transport areas, train stations and airports and in organized collective transport.
• Contact professions: In both non-medical contact professions (hairdressers, beauticians) and medical contact professions (dentist, general practitioner), both the customer/patient and the service provider must wear a mouth mask when there is direct physical contact and the distance of one and a half meters cannot be guaranteed .
• Events: at events, major sports competitions and other gatherings of more than 500 people (without the application of the Covid Safe Ticket), both employees and organizers must wear a mouth mask.
• Care: in healthcare institutions (such as residential care centers or hospitals) wearing a mouth mask remains mandatory.
• Higher education: in Dutch-language colleges and universities in Brussels, a general mouth mask requirement applies, in contrast to colleges and universities in Flanders.
• If the distancing rule cannot be adhered to, wearing a mouth mask is strongly recommended for people aged 13 and over. However, this recommendation does not apply to the exception categories, for example people living under the same roof and children up to and including the age of 12.
