The new top model, the Moto X40 Motorola has introduced the Moto G53, which has proved to be an attractive mid-range offering.
The Motorola Moto G53 already boasts 5G support, but other features have been sacrificed at the altar of this, so the phone is a step behind its 4G predecessor, the Moto G52, in several areas. Furthermore, even the 5G modem-equipped Moto G51 has better specs in some respects (Motorola’s product range can be quite confusing).
Starting with the screen, the G52’s 6.6-inch 90Hz 90Hz AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution is gone, replaced by a 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with 120Hz resolution but only HD+. The resolution of the selfie camera has been reduced to 8 megapixels.
There are setbacks on the back too. The main camera still has a 50MP sensor with native 0.64µm pixels (1.3µm after stitching), but the ultra-wide module is gone. Don’t worry, the 2MP macro camera is still here.
Then there’s the battery. The 5,000mAh capacity is the same as the old phone, though the charging rate has dropped to 18W (from 30W) and there’s only a 10W charger in the box.
Fortunately, the restrictions haven’t impacted the microSD card slot or 3.5mm headphone jack. The G53 comes in two variants, one with 4GB of RAM and one with 8GB of RAM, both with 128GB of storage. You can also choose from black and white color variants.
The Motorola Moto G53 is now available for pre-order in China, the price of the 4+128GB model is only 900 yuan (about $130 or HUF 49,400, and the 8+128GB model costs 1100 yuan. Hence the price is quite reasonable, only the question is whether the phone will appear in Europe and if so, how much it will cost here.
