On Sunday June 21, the emergency services arrived in a city of Grenade-sur-l’Adour, in the Landes, and discovered the body of a lifeless newborn baby. A little earlier, a thirty-something had given birth in this apartment, in special circumstances.
The young woman had discovered her pregnancy at the time of the birth of the infant, a phenomenon called denial of pregnancy total. It is a very particular mechanism in the body, which does not express any of the pregnancy symptoms that a woman can usually detect.
Questions to clarify
In order to understand the exact circumstances of this drama, the thirty-something was heard by the gendarmes, during a jail which started this Monday, June 29 and ended the next day, Tuesday, at the end of the day. She was then referred to the Mont-de-Marsan prosecution who chose to open a judicial information who must first determine whether it is a homicide or not. If yes, is it voluntary or involuntary?
Investigators from the research brigade still have many questions to elucidate in this complex dossier, which must be supported by new analyzes following an autopsy of the infant’s body. The 30-something was left free and placed under judicial supervision.
