“Last year we found out the most valuable song of the year without the presence of the audience, so it was great to hear applause from the audience again this year. It also definitely made the musicians even more satisfied with what they had done. We have found out the most valuable song of 2021, but it should be reminded that “Muzikālā banka” is not a competition, but a tribute to Latvian music. May the musicians succeed in creating beautiful and enjoyable compositions for the audience, which will be performed in the 23rd season of “Muzikālās banka”, ‘wishes Kaspars Mauriņš, the director of Latvijas Radio 2.

How did the songs rank the experts and the musicians themselves?

If only the board of experts evaluated it, then the first place would be “Signature” performed by the group Instruments, the second place would be Don’s song “It’s Written in the Sky (Milky Way)”, and the third place would be taken by Aminata with the composition “Salt Eyes”.

In turn, the musicians themselves – the performers of the 15 most valuable songs of the final show – put the song “Where God’s Sleigh Slides” in the first place, performed by the group Brainstorm and Folk Girls, in the second place – the group Instruments with the song “Signature”, and the third place according to the musicians. Aija Andrejeva and ZeBrene with the song “Shaman”.

All finalists of the “Musical Bank” received specially designed commemorative prizes. The author of this year’s award is the artist Armands Jēkabsons. The prizes are a unique memory of the best and are created according to the concept of the final show.

It has already been reported that the most valuable song of the “Musical Bank” is determined in several rounds. In the first two rounds, the songs were evaluated by the Music Council’s expert council and listeners on the survey website www.muzikalabanka.lv. In the third, final round of voting, the results of the first two rounds and live telephone voting were summed up.
