Reliability is a top priority for car buyers and the German premium trio are considered by many to set the benchmark for reliability. But do you know which are the most reliable models of these three renowned German brands? The answer is given by a study by the publication What Car?
AudiTT
It has long been one of our favorite coupes, but it is exemplary when it comes to reliability. In the coupe and convertible category of the latest What Car? by reliability, this model is in second place. Of the TT owners who took part in the survey, only 5% complained of a problem, with the bodywork being the only problem area. It’s worth noting, however, that Audi’s trustworthiness score as a brand isn’t so good: 21st out of 32 brands included.
BMW X3
The BMW X3 offers a superb driving experience, has a truly impressive range of engines and, according to What Car? it is the fourth most reliable vehicle in the larger SUV category. Among the cars of the participating owners, 17% of the X3s suffered damage, with problems related to the bodywork, the electrical system and the gearbox. As a brand, BMW achieved a relatively average 16th place out of 32 in the manufacturer rankings.
Mercedes B class
This car is not only comfortable, smart inside and practical, but also performs very well in terms of reliability. It is this model that has been recognized by What Car? being the most reliable car in the MPV category. However, Mercedes as a brand also underperformed and likely underperformed its direct competitors such as BMW and Audi, finishing 23rd out of 32 entrants.
