The most powerful series Duster in history has been released. In what market is the SUV available?

Dacia Duster is one of the best-selling small SUVs on the European market. From now on, the model will benefit from a version equipped with a petrol engine that produces almost 200 horsepower. Basically, we are talking about the most powerful series Duster that has been built in its short history of 12 years.

The market success that Duster enjoys it is largely due to its affordable price. Its outstanding off-road performance also makes it one of the best options on the market.

Far from Europe, namely in Brazil, the SUV is marketed under the Renault logo. According to the sales strategy applicable to each market, the French manufacturer adapts it to the requirements and characteristics of the market in that country.

That’s why the range offered in Brazil includes the most powerful version of the Duster series ever produced. It uses a 1.3 TCe petrol engine with Flex technology, which produces 170 hp and 270 Nm of torque.

The engine is connected to a six-speed automatic X-Tronic transmission and a front-wheel drive configuration. Under these conditions, the model can sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 km / h.

One of the key features of this engine is that it can also run on ethanol. This is a very popular fuel on the Brazilian market.

The 1.3 TCe engine is the same used by Renault Arkana and Capture. The power baggage available on both models is 10 hp lower due to pollution regulations in Brazil.

The version will not reach Europe either

The most powerful Duster available in Europe is powered by the classic 1.3 TCe petrol engine with 150 hp and 250 Nm. The unit is paired with a six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Power is sent transmitted to the front axle. With these resources, Duster can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 199 km / h.

There are currently no plans to offer Duster in Europe in an engine version similar to the one in Brazil. Demanding carbon regulations prevent Dacia from enriching its Duster offering with an engine that exceeds 150 hp.
