The most popular destinations from Riga Airport this year – in Latvia – have been determined

The most popular destinations from Riga Airport in eight months of this year were London, Moscow and Oslo, according to information published by SJSC Riga International Airport.

In total, in the eight months of 2020, 1.698 million passengers were served at Riga Airport, which is 67.5% less than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Of all passengers, 8.9% or 151,166 went to London, 7.8% or 132,483 to Moscow and 5.9% or 100,211 to Oslo. 4.7% or 79,829 passengers went to Helsinki, 4.6% or 78,131 to Frankfurt, 4% or 67,940 to Tallinn and Berlin, 3.4% or 57,749 to Vilnius, 2.9 % or 49 356 – to Amsterdam, but 2.8% or 47 558 – to Dublin.

423,144 passengers traveled in the transfer. Of these, 54,504 or 12.9% of transfer passengers traveled to Tallinn, 45,796 or 10.8% to Vilnius and 29,568 or 7% to Helsinki.

The fourth most popular transfer destination was Moscow, to which 28,083 or 6.6% of passengers traveled. It was followed by St. Petersburg, to which 21,380 or 5% of passengers traveled, Palanga, to which 19,326 or 4.6% of passengers traveled, and Oslo, to which 14,722 or 3.5% of passengers traveled.

The eighth most popular transfer destination was Paris, to which 14,496 or 3.4% traveled. In ninth place was Kiev, to which 13,783 or 3.3% traveled, while the tenth most popular transfer destination was Copenhagen, to which 13,699 or 3.2% of passengers traveled.

In the eight months of 2020, the airport served 25,613 flights, which is 56.1% less than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Last year, the airport served a total of 7.798 million passengers, which is 10.5% more than in 2018.

Riga International Airport is the largest air traffic hub in the Baltic States.
