Mount Qasiun Called the Most Magical Location. SYRIAN CULTURE’S PHOTO
JAKARTA – The place where Abel was killed by Cain allegedly occurred on Mount Qasiun, in the Damascus region. Residents of Damascus call this place Syahqatul Jabal (mountain cry). This area is believed to be the tomb of a number of prophets, including Prophet Muhammad
Adam.
Mount Qosiun does have many names. Everything has its own background story that happened there. Among its designations are Cave of Hunger, Cave of Gabriel, Cave of Blood and others.
The book “Umur dan Silsilah Para Nabi” by Jihad Muhammad Hajjaj and Anis Maftuhin mentions that this mountain never stops shedding tears because of sadness for what Qabil has done to his own brother.
Syauqi Abu Khalil in the Athlas of the Koran, explains that on Mount Qasiun which towers high in the city of Damascus from the north, there is a cave called Magharatud which means cave of blood.
As explained in Al-Quran surah Al-Maidah verse 28 which means,
“Truly if you (Qabil) move your hand towards me to kill me, then I will never move my hand to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah, Lord of the whole universe,” (QS, Al-Maidah: 28).
As for the location where the place where the murder of Abel was done by Qabil, as described in the book of Prophets and Messengers by Ibnu Katsiir.
As quoted from the testimony of the scribes, the place where Abel was killed was in the Qasiun mountain area, north of the city of Damascus, Syria.
In the Qasiun mountains there is a cave which many people call the Dam cave.
Regarding the location of Habil’s murder in the Dam cave, it is the same as told by Al-Hafidz Ibnu Asakir, he stated from the story of a pious man named Ahmad bin Katsir.
Ahmad bin Katsir dreamed of meeting the Prophet, along with Abu Bakr, Umar bin Khattab, and Abel, the son of the prophet Adam.
In the dream, Ahmad bin Kathir asked Abel to swear that the blood in the cave was his blood.
Then Abel swore that it was his blood, namely the witness of the cruelty of his own brother, namely Qabil.
Ahmad bin Katsir also prayed to God to make the cave where Abel was killed a mustajabah location when praying.
In this dream the Prophet confirmed, and Umar and Abu Dawud every Thursday always made time to visit the cave
