“The most important thing is our own party”

“For me, playing is always the goal. Although sometimes the coach decides that someone else plays, my preparation is always at its best. I train with the hope of being a starter, and if it’s not my turn, I prepare to perform in the minutes I have.” With this mentality, Gonzalo Klusener prepares for a special challenge in Paraná. The San Martín striker will take the place of Junior Arias, suspended due to the accumulation of yellow cards, in a match where the pressure will be high. Starting at 5 p.m., Diego Flores’ team will face Patronato, with the aim of sealing qualification for the final of the Primera Nacional.

The team from La Ciudadela needed a series of results in the duel that their namesake from San Juan played yesterday against All Boys, in Floresta. With this panorama, Klusener assured that the entire delegation was focused on the televisions of the Intertower hotel in Santa Fe.

“We were attentive to the game, as we always do with football in general. This match has a lot of impact on our ranking for first place, so we are following it closely. But, we are calm, knowing that the most important thing is our own party,” explained “Kluse” about what happened in the privacy of the “holy” delegation.

Beyond his concentration for the match against “El Patrón”, Klusener also takes advantage of this present to enjoy the moment he is experiencing at the club. He fondly remembers how he arrived at San Martín, a team where he knew how to earn the respect and affection of the fans with goals.

“I live it with tranquility and joy, excited by the great moment we are going through. I honestly didn’t expect to be nine points ahead at this point, but it’s welcome. This reflects the excellent campaign we have been carrying out,” analyzed Klusener. “Since I received the call from San Martín, I had no doubts about where I wanted to play. I was excited to know that I was coming to one of the most important clubs in the category, with the clear objective of fighting at the top and getting promoted. At this stage of my career, challenges like this motivate me a lot, and being here, fighting until the end, is something spectacular for my career,” added the experienced forward, who joked about the goal he missed in the last match against Tristán Suárez .

During the complement against “Lechero”, Nicolás Moreno had overwhelmed the right wing, eluding several rivals and brilliantly assisting Klusener. But, the striker raised his shot, wasting a clear opportunity to increase the lead. Given this, the center forward commented on a video on social media of “Chuny’s” great play.

“I screwed up, didn’t I? If it ended in a goal, ‘Chuny’ was worth two more clubs. Let’s go to the next one!” Kluse had written in the Instagram post.

“I saw ‘Chuny’s’ play, which was spectacular until my definition. I always tell those who play in other positions that it is essential for us (the forwards) to score goals, because that way they stand out more. ‘Nico’ is an incredible player and he still has a lot to learn. His present makes me very happy, he helped us a lot and I am sure he will continue to do so,” said the reference.

Last season, Klusener reached the final for the first promotion with the Deportivo Maipú shirt and, now, he will have a new opportunity to achieve the goal with the “Santo”. Is it a kind of amulet for these definitions?

“I trust my relationships within the squad and my preparation. I hope we have the opportunity to play in the final, it would be the second for me. Last year I played against Maipú, and although I don’t consider myself an amulet, I know that we have a great team. We are close to achieving the goal, we hope to achieve it soon to gain peace of mind,” anticipated the forward, who will start against Patronato.

“They need to add to the relegation table. “It is a team that will fight for the three points, but we hope to have a great afternoon,” concluded “Klusegol.”
