When you buy a new smartphone, do you trade it in, buy it, or keep it? It is said that it is generally more expensive to sell a car than to trade it in, but how many people will buy it? Also, if you choose to buy it, what kind of shop should you go to? This time, we will introduce survey results regarding smartphone shopping.
About 20% have experience buying smartphones
NEXER, in collaboration with Daiwan Telecom, conducted an internet survey of 1,000 men and women across the country from October 24 to November 6, 2024.
When asked if they had ever bought their own smartphone, more than 70% of them answered, “No (77.1%).” On the other hand, about 20% of the respondents answered “Yes” (22.9%), indicating that only a small number of people were familiar with shopping. When we asked people who had bought a new smartphone why they did so, we got answers like ‘Because I can use it as a booster when I move on to the next model,’ ‘ and “Because I don’t need the original smartphone when I buy a new model.”.
About 20% of people choose smartphone shopping malls based on “proximity”
If you want to sell your smartphone, what kind of shop is the best? When asked, “What criteria did you use to choose a smartphone shopping store? When asked why they chose that answer, they said, “It’s close and it doesn’t take much effort” and “It’s convenient because it’s close and I can leave quickly.” If you trade in your smartphone at a place where you can buy a new phone, the process is completed on the spot, but if you buy a new phone, the process must be completed later, a could be a problem for some people. Perhaps because of this inconvenience, many people seem to choose a shopping mall nearby.
The next most common responses were “Because I was attracted to the content of the campaign (17.9%), “Because I had a good track record of making high value purchases (17.9%) ,” and “Because it’s a shop I always use (17.9%),” with the same percentage of responses. Another key point is to choose a shop where you can get the item at the highest price.
According to YouTuber Mizujisan, who provides useful information as a “smartphone course that anyone can understand,” when trading or buying a smartphone, it’s best to choose where to sell it in the same condition to the smartphone you were using.. We will include the features of each trade-in / purchase, so use it as a reference.
