Interesting facts about viruses

Since they do not have their own metabolism like bacteria do, viruses are by definition not among living things. They consist of genetic material and proteins. They can only multiply with the help of a host. Whether a virus can penetrate a cell depends on the surface structures of the respective virus or the nature of the body cell envelope.
