The person in charge of Cancer Control and Prevention of the Departmental Health Service of Tarija (Headquarters), Jorge Pérez, has reported that the most frequent types of cancer in the department are breast, cervical and stomach cancer, this after the registration that is carried out as a way to benefit patients with free treatments.
“Since last year, the identification of cancer patients has been carried out, a monthly average we have 10 people who come to request this card, since it is not only to benefit from Law 159 but so that they have a preferential treatment at the time of taking records at the San Juan de Dios Regional Hospital”.
In this sense, he pointed out that the most frequent cancers are breast, cervical and some types of stomach cancer.
“So far we have delivered 54 patients, some are patients who come for control, this means that they are patients who have overcome cancer but still have to do a monthly check-up with a treating doctor but for this they need to be able to get their cancer card”.
