The former wife of the ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Princess Haya bin al-Hussein, will receive $ 730 million in the divorce proceedings.

In the same year, proceedings for child custody and financial aid began in the High Court of London.
The sheikh reacted to the trial with a poem “You lived, you died,” which is believed by many to threaten the princess after it became known about her affair with a former British military man who served as her bodyguard.
While living in Britain, the princess continued to receive threats: she received regular messages like “We will get you everywhere.”

According to the court’s decision, Mohammed ibn Rashid al-Maktoum is due to make a one-time payment of more than $ 330 million over the next three months.
This amount will be used to support Princess Haya’s British mansions – one next to Kensington Palace in London and her main residence in Surrey – as well as to pay for jewelry and racehorses she acquired on credit (Princess Haya has been fond of equestrian sports since childhood).
The money will also go to pay for the travel, salary and accommodation of the nanny and nurse, the maintenance of armored vehicles for the family, and the maintenance of her pony and other pets.
The princess noted that the first payment would allow her to free herself from the sheikh’s control over her children.
“I really want to be free, and I want my children to be free,” the 47-year-old princess told the court during her testimony, which lasted almost seven hours.
Not pocket money
The Sheikh will also need to pay almost $ 4 million for the education of their joint 14-year-old daughter Jalila and 9-year-old son Zayed, and more than $ 12.5 million in arrears. The court also ordered the Emir of Dubai to pay $ 13 million a year to support the children when they reach the age of majority.
While those sums may sound dizzying, these payments represent less than half of Hayya’s original $ 1.8 billion request. It took more than $ 90 million to pay legal costs.
In Dubai, Princess Haya received more than $ 115 million a year for the maintenance of the house and another $ 12 million for pocket expenses.
