The longest non-stop flight in history has been carried out by the Swiss aviation company Comlux and a Boeing 787-8 with registration P4-787 that has flown from Seoul to Buenos Aires for 20 hours and 19 minutes, thus beating the Qantas record of 19 hours and 16 minutes.
The service took off from Incheon International Airport, in the South Korean capital, bound for the Ezeiza airfield, covering a distance of 19,483 kilometers over the Pacific Ocean in 20 hours and 19 minutes.
The aircraft, which was Aeroméxico’s first Dreamliner unit, has a flight range of 14,200 kilometers with capacity for 250 passengers. In order to fly more than 20 hours, the airline had to reduce its capacity.
The plane, which operated its first seven years of life with the Mexican airline, was leased from Comlux in February of this year. Currently the European airline uses the plane for charter services for VIP clients.
Previously, the Australian airline Qantas had registered a direct service of 19 hours and 16 minutes, linking New York, United States, with Sydney, Australia.
