Scientists have found a substance that can block the penetration of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus into human cells.
According to ToDay News Ufa, citing Nature Communications, specialists from Karolinska University, located in Sweden, managed to do this. Antibody Ty1 proved to be able to protect against coronavirus infection and prevent severe disease.
The researchers injected the S-protein (spike protein) of the alpaca coronavirus and after 2 months in the blood samples noted a strong immune response against the S-protein. Scientists have isolated and cloned neutralizing antibodies. During the analysis of the structure, I established the ability of the Ty1 antibody (nanobody) to neutralize the virus by attaching to the part of the spike protein that binds to the ACE2 receptor.
At the moment, scientists have begun to conduct preclinical tests on animals.
