The Moroccan Wydad and Libyan Al-Ahly Tripoli settle for a tie in the King Salman Club Cup

The tie settled the Moroccan Wydad Athletic Club and the Libyan Al-Ahly Tripoli Club in Abha on Sunday, in the second round of Group Two competitions in the King Salman Club Cup.

With this tie, Wydad and Al-Ahly Tripoli are equal in the standings, with two points each, after the Moroccan team tied in the first round with Al-Sadd of Qatar, and Al-Ahly of Libya tied with Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.

The confrontation began with great caution on the part of the two teams, as Wydad managed to gain more possession of the ball in the middle of the field, without threatening the Libyan team’s goal.

Al-Ahly Tripoli was close to scoring a goal in the 8th minute, after a counterattack led by striker Anis Salto.

In the 61st minute, Wydad almost scored the second goal, by left back Elias Sheti, after a beautiful pass from Jalal El Daoudi, but goalkeeper Nashnush saved it.

In the 73rd minute, Al-Ahly Tripoli came close to adding a second goal, after an organized attack, but Ahmed Kamal shot far from Wydad’s goal.

Tunisian referee Sadiq Al-Salmi expelled striker Hisham Bousfian, after a violent intervention on one of the Al-Ahly players in Tripoli.

The referee added 10 minutes of wasted time, during which Al-Ahly Tripoli was the most dangerous in the Wydad goal. But the match ended with no winner or loser 1-1.
