The Montpellier Opera is looking for 1,000 voices for an immersive show

Professional singer, amateur or beginner, the Montpellier Opera is looking for 1,000 votes to set up an immersive show with the public. Composed in 2014 by musician David Lang, the show entitled “Crowd out” aims to understand the feeling of community and the movements of crowds. An experience that has already proven itself around the world, with performances in Berlin, London and even Chicago. It will be presented for the first time in France at the Opéra Berlioz, at the Corum in Montpellier, on Friday 14 April.

Everyone can participate

Valérie Blanvillain is the pianist and conductor for this project. She trains the singers every Monday evening until the final performance. “Anyone can participate in this experience. It will be vocal games, body percussion on contemporary music” she explains. The spectators will also be an integral part of the experience. They will be distributed almost everywhere: on the stage, in the orchestra or on the balconies, the aim is to transform the Opéra Berlioz into a large public square.
