The Montpellier Marathon will be back in 2024 with many new features. And to celebrate this rebirth, it has a new name: the Montpellier Run Festival.
A running weekend to record now in your diary on April 6 and 7, 2024.
No less than 6 events will have the region’s athletes racing during this new edition. All in the heart of the city to allow athletes of all levels to enjoy the beautiful city of Montpellier.
Marathon – 42,195 km
The queen event of Montpellier, the marathon will welcome the elite of athletes as well as the first challengers of this legendary distance during a double loop of 21.1 km in the heart of the city.
Semi-Marathon – 21,1 km
Here is the perfect distance to set a big goal at the start of the year. More than 3,000 runners are expected to brave these 21.1 km.
New / Ekiden – 42,195 km in a team
This is new for this 2024 edition: the Ekiden is a relay race of 42.195 km on a 5 km loop. The participants will form their team to tackle the marathon distance together, in a moment of conviviality.
New / 10K
For the first time, the 10 km event arrives in the spring in the streets of Montpellier. Do not miss.
New / 5K
First race? First sporting challenge? Or want to beat your time? This 5K will be the test of all challenges.
Children’s race
Like the adults, the youngest will be able to compete with each other in the streets of Montpellier.
New: the village relocates to the Promenade du Peyrou
Located in the heart of the city, the Promenade du Peyrou is famous for being the conjunction of 3 emblematic works of the city: the promenade and its terraces (built in 1689), the Porte du Peyrou (1692) and the aqueduct of the Saint source -Clement (1753-1764). This historic place will host the race village where all the runners will go to discover the partners, exhibitors and activities which will take place throughout a festive weekend on April 6 and 7, 2024. This will also be the line starting point for each route. The arrival will be a few meters away, under the Arc de Triomphe.
Faithful to its values, Montpellier Run festival will once again be a responsible race this year thanks to very concrete actions:
- 0 plastic bottles at refreshment points: the organization connects to the city’s drinking water network
- 0 disposable cup
- Local solid supplies
- Wooden medals from sustainably managed forests
- Sorting and management of waste throughout and at the end of the races.
