Finally some good news for the Montluçon hospital centre. The institution has obtained authorization for the future installation of a positron emission tomograph (PET-scan). The authorization decree was published yesterday. A real breakthrough for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Around Montluçon, only the hospitals of Clermont, Bourges or Limoges were equipped with this medical imaging technology which allows better diagnosis and better therapeutic monitoring of cancers. The examination consists of the injection of glucose anda slightly radioactive product intravenously, which will tend to accumulate in tumor areas.
