The monthly bonus of the Valladolid municipal bus company (Auvasa) that will come into effect on March 1 will be, at its ordinary rate of 38 euros per month, slightly cheaper than average prices of Spanish cities with between 250,000 and 650,000 inhabitants that have this means of payment (38.55 euros), as well as the youth rate (22 euros compared to 25.13 euros on average).
This can be seen from an analysis of the current rates and means of payment in urban buses in Zaragoza, Malaga, Murcia, Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Alicante, Córdoba, Vigo and Gijón.
Valladolid will have, as of March 1, with the novelty of the implementation of monthly bonuses that will allow users use the bus as many times as they need it throughout a month For prices of 38 euros for the ordinary voucher and 22 euros for young people, under 26 years of age.
With these prices, the ordinary rate is slightly below the average among the Spanish cities of medium-high size that have a similar means of payment (Zaragoza, Malaga, Palma, Las Palmas, Córdoba and Gijón, since Alicante and Vigo do not have a similar bonus). Of them, the price more expensive is in the capital of Zaragoza (42 euros), which includes bus and tram, and the cheaper, the one in Córdoba (33 euros per month).
SEMESTERLY AND ANNUAL BONUSES
It should be noted that some cities with monthly bonuses more expensive than Valladolid, such as Zaragoza and Malaga (39.95 euros per month) give the option of hire it for six months or a year for a cheaper price (24.15 euros per month in the Andalusian city and 29.90 in the Aragonese capital).
In the case of the monthly youth voucher, the Valladolid rate at 22 euros is the second cheapest in 30-day charges, only surpassed by Murcia students (20.40 euros).
As for other more traditional means of payment, the single ticket from Valladolid, which will increase its price from 1.40 to 1.50 euros will be at the same level as that of Palma de Mallorca, the most expensive of the cities analyzed, which present a average price of 1.32 euros.
Meanwhile, the recharge bus, which works in a similar way in all the cities studied, in Auvasa will still be below the average (0.79 euros) despite rising from 0.70 to 0.75 euros. In this case, the cheapest fare is Córdoba, at 0.72 euros per trip; while the most expensive is Alicante, at 0.87 euros, although this city also has a tram or light rail.
Also, the youth recharge bus fare, which in Valladolid will go from 0.44 to 0.50 euros on March 1, also remains below the average of the ten cities analyzed. In fact, with rates still in force in November 2016 it is the cheapest of all, slightly below Palma de Mallorca (0.45 euros). In other cities, such as Alicante or Gijón (0.70 in both cases), the price is significantly higher.
Regarding social benefits in the means of payment, another of the novelties of Valladolid is the introduction of a social bonus for unemployed people over 45 for more than six months, at a price of 0.20 euros the trip. In this case, only Las Palmas (0.25 per trip and no age limit), Palma de Mallorca (0.30) and Vigo (0.66) have similar initiatives.
On the other hand, practically all the cities have a free card or with symbolic price for pensioners with lower income of a certain amount. However, the transport companies in Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Gijón have a reduced rate for other retirees regardless of their income level.
FREE FOR CHILDREN, BUT NO REDUCED PRICE FOR LARGE FAMILY
The free for children under 12 years old, which Auvasa has applied since January 1, is unusual among the cities analyzed, since only Gijón (free up to 13 years) and Palma (up to eight) have measures of this type. In Alicante and Vigo, minors have reduced rates.
However, Valladolid does not apply a price reduction for large families, something that does happen on buses in Palma de Mallorca, Las Palmas and Vigo.
