The maximum air temperature record for March was broken in all observation stations, except for Kolka and Mērsrag, where the southeast wind brought cool air from the Gulf of Riga.
The new March heat record in the capital is +21.7 degrees.
The +22 degree mark was exceeded not only in Zvejniekciem, but also in Gulbene, Jēkabpilis, Madona, Rēzekne and Skrīveri.

The monthly heat record was exceeded in some places by five degrees. In Rezekne, the previous March heat record was +17.2 degrees in 2007, the new record is +22.1 degrees. In Madona, the monthly heat record was corrected from +17.5 to +22.5 degrees.
+22 degrees were also reached on the first Easter in Zoseni, in the Vidzeme highlands.
The previous highest air temperature recorded in the country in the first month of spring was +20.8 degrees on March 30, 1968 in Mersrag. On the other hand, the national heat record for March 31 was previously +19.1 degrees, which was registered in 2010 in Rucava.
It is expected that on the Second Easter, the heat record of April 1 will be broken in most of the country.
