Strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian hospitals in the field of rehabilitation. It is the basis of the collaboration between the Montecatone Rehabilitation Institute and the Soleterre ETS Foundation, City Clinical Hospital No. 4 of the Dnipro City Council and the First Territorial Medical Union of Lviv. This agreement is part of the project “Strengthening the capacity of hospitals in Lviv, Kyiv and Dnipro to respond, manage and treat complex emergencies linked to victims of explosive devices” financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation ( Aics).
The Institute, recognized internationally for its excellence in the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injuries or with serious acquired brain injuries, has made facilities and specialized personnel available for the multidisciplinary training of ten Ukrainian colleagues from the hospitals of Lviv and Dnipro, welcomed in Montecatone in recent days. The group. composed of two doctors, a psychologist, three occupational therapists and four physiotherapists, all very young, it was accompanied by the health specialist for the Milanese NGO Soleterre, Dario Mariani and by the project manager of the Ukrainian NGO Zaporuka, Nataliia Tatarenko. The delegation, in addition to visiting the racetrack, was also received in the Municipality by Mayor Marco Panieri.
The meeting at the end of the internship revealed great satisfaction among the participants for the quality of the skills observed and put into practice in the department; particular gratitude for the willingness both to share the most sensational scientific innovations, for example by participating in the congress promoted by Montecatone on new technologies in rehabilitation, and the methods that can be concretely useful to traumatized people even where there is no possibility of using sophisticated tools . «Our commitment – explains the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Montecatone institute, Mario Tubertini – was aimed at providing a concrete contribution to improve the response and treatment capabilities of emergencies in Ukrainian hospital facilities. In this commitment we also involved colleagues from the prosthesis center in Vigorso, unfortunately still closed due to the damage caused by the flood. It will be a privilege for us to be able to continue this collaboration.”
