In the feature film The Monkeydirected by Oz Perkinswill follow twins Bill and Hall. These two brothers find an old silver toy of their father in the attic of their childhood home. But not everything will go as planned according to the official synopsis of this upcoming horror film. “But as a wave of horrific deaths begins, the brothers decide to throw away the monkey and move on with their lives, drifting apart over the years. Then the mysterious deaths start again and the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good…”, we can read.
This is an adaptation of a literary work by the successful writer Stephen Kingwhich needs no introduction. With the novel having been in bookstores for 40 years, it’s safe to say that this film is already highly anticipated. In an interview with the Boo Crew podcast, filmmaker Oz Perkins explained: “For me, if you make a movie about a toy monkey, you can be serious. But a lot of King’s novella is funny and nostalgic. We tried to make a movie that felt a little more like something from the late ’80s and ’90s. It’s kind of like Robert Zemeckis took a little acid and made a Stephen King movie about a stuffed monkey,” he said.
