Pop star and entertainer Robbie Williams is very happy with his performance as a monkey in the biopic “Better Man – The Robbie Williams Story”. “The monkey is the way I have always seen myself in real life,” the 50-year-old told the streaming provider Prime Video before the “Bambi” awards ceremony about the film, which tells of the ups and downs of his life.
Originally he would have preferred to be a lion, but director Michael Gracey advised him against it. Now, thanks to technology, the Brit can be seen in the form of a great ape – his spirit animal, explained Williams, pointing out a big advantage: “Because there’s a monkey in the film, everyone talks about it.”
Williams will receive his third “Bambi” at the Bavaria Film Studios near Munich and will open the award ceremony of the renowned Hubert Burda Media media and television award with a new song from his autobiographical film. The 50-year-old entertainer already received the trophy in the International Music category in 2016 and in the Entertainment category in 2013.
Other prominent guests at the gala in the studios in the posh Munich suburb of Grünwald include Oscar winner Kevin Costner, rock star Bryan Adams, the Elevator Boys, soccer star Toni Kroos and rapper Shirin David. The “Bambi” has been awarded since 1948. The red carpet walk before the awards ceremony was broadcast on Prime Video’s TikTok channel.
