/ world today news/ Once again, we witnessed clumsy explanations of how a summer rain caused severe damage to the asphalt pavement on Cherni Vrah Blvd.
In 2016, the boulevard was renovated. The site was announced as large-scale and covering the reconstruction of sewerage, water pipes and engineering network. Just a few months after it was completed, this spectacular facility was compromised – both underground and above ground.
Without disputing the scale with which construction and repair works are carried out in the capital, we want to express concern about their quality control and the application of sanctions to contractors in the event of defects. It is logical to ask at whose expense the repairs of the repairs in Sofia are carried out and whether the metropolitan tax-payer does not pay twice or more for the same thing, merely because it is made and repaired several times.
Mayor Fandakova stated that in the case of Cherni Vrah Blvd., the damage will be repaired at the expense of the site contractor.
Hopefully, but probably not. Here’s why:
After a few days, on August 11, the reasphalting of the “Eagle Bridge” will start, which will cost the Municipality of Sofia 250,000 BGN, because the pavement was bent. Exactly 10 years ago, repairs were made in the same place, and its defects very soon shone – waves arose and people spontaneously called it the “Sea of Tsarigrad”. The then mayor of Sofia, Boyko Borisov, loudly announced that there is a 10-year guarantee for the quality of the activities performed and everything will be fine. So good that as soon as it expires, the Metropolitan Municipality will reach into the taxpayers’ pockets for a new repair.
BSP – Sofia insists that it becomes clear for the whole society and especially for the citizens and businesses that pay taxes in this city, what is behind all this – management weakness and cynical indolence or purposeful actions and inactions in favor of contractor companies, close to the managers from GERB.
