Almost two years later, for all known health reasons, lhe Monesterio-Cabeza la Vaca music band has once again participated in the Provincial Concentration of Music Bands, which reaches its nineteenth edition, promoted by the Extremadura Federation of Music Bands and the Badajoz Provincial Council.
The reunion with the public of the province took place this Saturday, September 4, in the Plaza de la Constitución in the Badajoz town of Puebla del Prior, whose city council, in collaboration with the federation, organized a concert in which the bands from Bienvenida and Rivera del Fresno also participated. The musical activity, which was scheduled for the cultural week, had to be delayed due to the epidemiological situation in which the municipality was.
The concert
The concert was opened by the Welcome Band, directed by Pedro José García Moreno. They interpreted, La Calesera, by F. Alonso; Coco, by M. Giaccino; Mary Popins, by R. Sherman, and they closed participation with a mix by the singer Karina. The concert I continue with the Ribera del Fresno band, under the direction of Bernabé Sabido Cintas. Among his repertoire, Triniá, by maestro Quiroga; In a Persian Market, by A. Ketelbey; el paso doble, La puerta grande, by Checa; and the popular Concierto d´amore, by J. de Haan.
The musical program it closed with the performance of the Monesterio-Cabeza la Vaca music band, directed by Antonio Luis Mimbrero Guardado. They chose for the occasion, the pasodoble, Tío Caniyitas, by R. Dorado; a medley by the British pop rock band, Coldplay, and the soundtrack to the children’s film, The Lion King, by H. Zimmer. They closed the concert with the musical basis of the well-known series, Game of Thrones, by R. Dl Jawad.
Agreement
These concerts are possible thanks to an agreement between the Area of Culture and Sports, of the Provincial Council of Badajoz, and the Extremadura Federation of Music Bands. This agreement allows that throughout this summer the XIX Concentration of Music Bands will be developed, and the XIV edition of Proximity Performances. Programs, said in his presentation the president of the federation, Miguel Ángel Martín, that Their objective is to “bring band music closer to the people, spread the musical culture, and encourage”, so that the people who do not have a band, create their own.
The Federation of Music Bands of Extremadura, has almost 3,000 federated musicians, belonging to some 70 bands from all over the region.
