“Yes,” says Prioress Sister Aloisia frankly, “Faith is currently being claimed, but it is also a gift to me in these crazy times”. In the series “In conversation with …” she talks about God and the world, her and her sisters’ daily life, the delayed election of the new bishop and also reveals herself as a fan of Roger Federer.
Sister Aloisia entered the Benedictine monastery of St. Johann in Müstair almost 40 years ago and was elected as the new prioress a good year ago as the successor to Sister Domenica Dethomas. Sister Aloisia and her eight religious sisters of the monastic community live, pray and work within historical and historical walls and do so strictly according to the Rule of Saint Benedict. The search for God is part of this rule, contemplation, obedience, seclusion, order or humility are further anchor points in the life of the sisters.
Prioress Aloisia Steiner, who comes from Taufers in Italy, describes the St. Johann monastery in Val Müstair as her earthly home, describes humility as the courage to be truthful and is happy that the monastery now has a new and modern agricultural stable, but above all a adequately furnished care room. Read the detailed interview with the prioress in Thursday’s December 10th issue.
