A tense hostage situation unfolded for hours today, in a bank in Beirut, but it has now happily ended with no injuries reported.
A security source told CNN that the gunman walked out of the bank and then surrendered.
The gunman was demanding money from his frozen account to help pay for his father’s operation, as some Lebanese banks have frozen customer accounts in response to the country’s staggering economic collapse in recent months.
