The next-generation versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will include a number of community-created mods and special enhancements from CD Projekt RED for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
In addition to the graphical and performance improvements, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will feature a selection of fan-made mods that are so popular and useful that the Polish studio saw fit to add them to the game.
- Terg500 World Map Fixes – A mod that detects and fixes inconsistencies between the game’s 3D and 2D map and minimap.
- Nitpicker’s Patch – various chuckcash visual fixes: A mod that fixes some visual bugs related to things like armor or elements in water, clipping on various surfaces, and so on.
- The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project by HalkHogan: A mod that modifies the models and textures of the original game, increasing their level of detail without sacrificing the artistic style.
- FCR3 – Immersion and Gameplay Tweaks by Andrzej Kwiatkowski (Flash_in_the_flesh): A mod created by the developer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Expansions to fix elements that limit immersion, weaker skills and items, cosmetic changes, and some bug fixes. New elements have been added to the mod for the next generation version of The Witcher, while others have not been included.
- HDMR – HD Monsters Reworked Mod by Denroth: This mod reworks the models of all monsters in the game, including expansions, to improve their texture quality and level of detail.
In addition to the mods created by the community, the developers of CD Projekt RED have rolled up their sleeves and made changes to fix some problems or improve some aspects of the original The Witcher 3 to make the game more modern.
- Quick Overlay Characters: Allows you to change and use characters without opening the radial menu. This option can be enabled or disabled in the settings.
- Alternate Camera: Now, if you wish, you can use a camera that is closer to the character and which will react more dynamically to movement and fights. This option can be enabled or disabled in the settings.
- Dynamic HUD Visibility: When this option is enabled in the settings, the minimap and HUD with quest objectives will only be visible in combat or when using Witcher Sense.
- New Map: The game map has been “cleaned” of icons such as question marks and boat symbols to make it less chaotic. You can optionally re-enable these icons (and thus restore the original map) from the settings.
- Improved Character Models – A series of comprehensive improvements to the main characters. For example, now Geralt’s shadow will be in high resolution even outside of cutscenes, and bugs have been fixed, such as hair cutting with armor. The monster models have also been improved in addition to the changes from the “HD Monsters Reworked mod” mentioned above.
- Improved Environments: A series of comprehensive changes and additions to enrich and improve the visual rendering of the game environment. For example, mountain ranges have been added in the distance, a new weather condition “Grey Sky” has been added with a gray sky, vegetation has been improved.
- Environment VFX and Technical Art: General improvements have been made to the visual effects of the game world of The Witcher 3.
- Bugs: Fixed various bugs related to missions, cutscenes, animations and gameplay.
Game Changes
- Fall Damage: Players can now survive falls from greater heights.
- Automatic Herb Harvesting: Now when players harvest herbs and plants, the loot screen does not open and harvesting is instantaneous.
- Slow Walk: Three different walk speeds are now available when using the controllers, depending on how much you tilt the analog stick. In the original you could only walk or run.
- Alternate Sprint: Players can now press the Left Analog Stick to sprint.
- Improved Radial Menu: It is now easier to select consumables and bombs, as it is no longer necessary to open the inventory to change equipped items, but can do it directly from the radial menu.
As a reminder, the update for future releases of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available for free from December 14, 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
