He Hostal Bofill de Viladrauin Osona, is modernist in style. It was inaugurated in 1898. It is the work of Josep Domènech i Estepà, author of emblematic buildings in Barcelona, such as the Catalana de Gas, the Hospital Clínic, the Salle Bonanova, the Palau de Justícia and the Modelo prison.
It was built at the initiative of Ramon Bofill i Gal·lès, one of the pioneer dentists in Catalonia, who together with Dr. Valentí Carulla (rector of the University of Barcelona) promoted Viladrau as a healing and tourist destination for the Catalan bourgeoisie at the beginning of the century. XX. His recipe was “air, water and idyllic landscapes.”
So much so that, at the beginning of the 20th century, the Tibidabo trams had a billboard on the roof announcing “Hotel Bofill. “Viladrau.”
According to details the Viladrau City Councilit is said that Ramon Bofill wanted to spend a few days in this town, where his family was from, but he did not find any room to stay.
So he left indignantly. A few days later he returned with workers to build the hotel that bears his name. In this way, from that moment on, he would never lack a room in Viladrau.
