VISIT AND OBTAIN
Joys of consumer culture: Every week we show selected consumer joys for an inspired Sunday.
1. The «Coastline» carpet series from Lyk Carpet is nostalgia to step on
Everything that people identify with is printed on T-shirts: Taylor Swift, sports clubs, food, cities. The love of the sea can now be shown on the floor instead of on the chest: Lyk Carpet makes carpets based on the desired stretch of coast.
With the new series «Coastline», the German carpet manufacturer Happy Carpet Custom-made woolen unique pieces according to the desired coastline, price on request. (Image: PD)
2. Making of a classic: The chair by Horgenglarus and Herzog & de Meuron
If you spend a certain amount of time in this country, you will definitely sit on one of the Horgenglarus chairs, designed by the greatest Swiss creative minds (Werner Max Moser, Trix Haussmann and others). Now the oldest furniture manufacturer in Switzerland has continued this tradition and developed the strikingly delicate “Belair” chair with Herzog & de Meuron.
With the chair «Belair» Horgenglarus and the architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron are continuing the chair series from 2011, which they created exclusively for the Volkshaus in Basel. It can be tried out in the new headquarters of the Helvetia insurance company by Herzog & de Meuron in Basel. (Image: PD)
3. Refreshingly different in interior and food: The new «Katzen Hero» Café
Tammy Lin Josen is allergic to cats and has never been able to have one. Now she has fulfilled a dream with “Cat Hero” in Zurich’s 4th district: a small Chinese café where the four-legged friends are everywhere – but only as an art form on the walls, on plates and as cutlery.
Definitely a highlight: the Matcha Cheesecake (of course with a spoon in the shape of a cat’s paw), which is «Cat Hero» served at Müllerstrasse 74 in Zurich. (Image: Getty Images)
4. «Maison Manesse» creates tangible memories
Even if they are just looking for a new location: the news of the closure of the “Maison Manesse” was a bit of a shock. The photo book “Fun Fine Dining” is a memory of the ten years in the location in District 3.
In the book «Fun Fine Dining» the «Manesse House» together with the Swiss artist and designer Christian Calabro, captured the ten years at Manesseplatz, from employees to friends, products, the food to the restaurant’s interior. (Image: PD)
5. The Zentrum Paul Klee dedicates the new exhibition to Brazilian modernism
Due to the diverse population and different cultures, the search for a national identity in Brazil was challenging. From September 7, 2024, the Zentrum Paul Klee will show how artists have nevertheless developed their own modern visual language with “Brasil! Brasil!”.

6. Louis Vuitton’s rancher chic as a campaign
For the Fall/Winter 2024/25 men’s fashion show, Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton’s creative director, brought the cowboy to Europe. The journey continued into the mountains with the recently presented campaign, captured by American photographer Colin Dodgson.
Even in rugged surroundings, Williams’ cowboy appears androgynous, slipping into floral cardigans and bouclé jackets and preferring to take a nap on a pink Louis Vuitton bag rather than on the hard ground. The idea of freedom and lightness, of endless horizons, can be interpreted in many different ways.
