Latvia starts this game without the right of the last shot in the first end. With the last shot, Agra Lassman managed to roll perfectly into the center of the house, making it difficult for the opponents to get points. Trying to knock our stone through the center guards, the Chinese make a mistake, thus losing even two points. In the second end, a couple of mistakes in the starting shots of our team result in three points in favor of China, 3:2. A perfectly played third end and mistakes in China’s performance allow them to win the maximum number of points in one end – six points, leading 8-3. At the beginning of the fourth end, the accurate shots of our team allow us to protect one stone closer to the center at the end of the end, which the opponents tried to knock out through their side stone to get three points, but ours “steal” one 9:3.
After the break, China decides to play a “power play”, which paid off, getting closer to -3 (6:9). The Latvian national team immediately takes its “power play” option in the next end. Although at the end of the end it was possible to take two points with the last throw, unfortunately the throw turned out to be too weak, reaching one 10:6. In the seventh end, our national team protects access to the center, the opponents winning only one point 7:10. The semi-final match ended with this result, our team accurately eliminated the opponents’ efforts to “steal” points.
Therefore, the mixed pair of wheelchair curling has done something historic, securing one of the medals in the highest division. In the final, which will take place on March 13 at At 00:30, our national team will meet the USA national team, which, having stolen a point in the eighth end, defeated the host Canada with 7:6. In parallel with this game, China and Canada will fight for bronze medals in their start.
