The mixed choir of the Riga Dome Choir School gives the listeners 7 minutes of peace / Article / LSM.lv

The mixed choir of the Riga Dome Choir School, its conductor Jurģis Cābulis and pianist Ilze Kalniņa give the listeners seven minutes of peace in the composition “The Fruit of Silence” by the Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, the choir representatives informed.

“Public spaces, especially social media, are increasingly filled with news that is causing unrest and unnecessary division in already challenging circumstances.” With this justification, the choir has published a video of the composition, inviting the listeners

“Stop the daily rush for a moment and protect the health of yourself and your loved ones from both viruses and misinformation.”

The composition of the composer Pēteris Vasks has not been chosen at random for the video greeting of the Riga Dome Choir School mixed choir video. Next year, the composer will celebrate his 75th anniversary, and conductor Jurģis Cābulis with the mixed choir of the Riga Dome Choir School and other well-known artists in Latvia intends to perform this and other compositions by the composer in concerts.

In March 2021, the choir will be heard in Dzintari Concert Hall, where a presentation concert of composer Jēkabs Jančevskis’ choral music album “Aeternum” is planned. The album was recorded by the mixed choir of the Riga Dome Choir School, and it was released in February 2020 in cooperation with the British music publishing house Hyperion Records. In addition, the choir hopes for peaceful and safe conditions in Latvia and in the world, so that in May 2021 they can go to Switzerland, where the 12th European Youth Choir Festival, which has been moved from May 2020, will take place.
