The misappropriation of the relief fund case prompts the complainant to file a writ petition.

The complainant is about to approach the High Court in the relief fund misappropriation case. Complainant RS Sasikumar informed that he will file a writ petition. The decision is to approach the Division Bench of the High Court. Sasikumar also clarified that there are ambiguities in the Lokayukta order. (Will file writ says RS Sasikumar)

Yesterday, following a difference of opinion, the case was referred to a larger bench. The difference of opinion was on whether the cabinet had the power to disburse money from the relief fund and whether the Lokayukta had the power to investigate the decision taken by the cabinet. It has not been determined whether the case will be considered by a wide bench.

The petition made the chief minister and 18 ministers of the first Pinarayi government accused. The complaint was against the payment of money to the families of late Chengannur former MLA KK Ramachandran and late NCP leader Uzhavoor Vijayan.

Complainant RS Sasikumar approached the High Court as the verdict was not delivered even after a year. The court, which directed the Lokayukta to file a complaint to announce the verdict, decided to pronounce the verdict in the Lokayukta case yesterday while adjourning the case to April 3. During the hearing of the case, the government issued an ordinance amending the fourteenth section of the Lokayukta Niyam. The allegation was that the move was made in view of the judgment against the Chief Minister.
