The Ministry of Health of Panama (Sometimes) tries to speed up the arrival of vaccines mixed or bivalent against COVID-19 for the month of December.

“We said it, for the first quarter of 2023, but we are trying to anticipate Pfizer, to send us a group of mixed or bivalent vaccines at the end of December and thus be able to vaccinate mainly on the front line. staff already all Panamanians who wish to apply the same,” said the Minister of Health, Luis Sucre.

Previously, the head of health explained that the mixed vaccines will be applied to people who have at least two or three doses of the covid-19 vaccine, so that they are protected against variants of the virus for a year.

He added that they are also waiting for the pharmaceutical company Pfizer to confirm the arrival of more than 70,000 new doses of vaccines for adults in the coming days. He reiterated that they are currently being vaccinated against COVID-19, in the different facilities of Minsa.

“We hope that Pfizer will confirm the arrival of the 70,000 doses of the regular vaccine and we are succeeding, if they can anticipate the arrival of the mixed vaccine by the end of December”, remarked the Minister of Health.

On the other hand, he stressed that despite the fact that Panama is in the sixth wave of COVID-19, no restrictions are in sight for upcoming holidays, in this case New Year’s Eve parties, the parade of a thousand skirts and carnivals. .

“At the moment there are no restrictions, we maintain constant surveillance with the Public Health team and we spoke with the President of the Republic, who reiterated that the end-of-year celebrations, the parade of the Thousand Skirts and then the carnivals, without any kind of ban,” he remarked.

He reiterated that given the increase in cases, self-care measures such as wearing a mask indoors, where there are gatherings of people and keeping distance, are part of the keys to fighting the virus; In addition to the mandatory use of the mask in health facilities, public transport and food handlers.
