The Ministry of Youth and Sports organized a gala ceremony on December 26 regarding the sports results of the year.
SIA reports with reference to AZERTAC that the event was attended by state and government officials, heads of federations, titled athletes and media representatives.
Leyla Aliyeva, the vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and Arzu Aliyeva, the head of the Baku Media Center, also participated in the ceremony.
The gala ceremony began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Then the memory of the martyrs who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov said that 2023 will be remembered by a number of important events for Azerbaijan. Emphasizing that the sovereignty of our country is fully ensured this year, the minister called the game held in Khankendi between the “Karabakh” and “MOIK” teams in the 1/8 final stage of the Azerbaijan Cup the most successful sports event. Farid Gayibov, who said that Azerbaijan has hosted prestigious competitions this year, pointed out that the athletes returned from international tournaments with many medals and won nine Olympic licenses. Congratulating the sports community on this occasion, the minister wished success to all athletes in the upcoming Olympic year.
The names of the winners in 19 nominations were announced after the video clip about National Leader Heydar Aliyev was shown.
