The Ministry of Tourism sees great potential in the Dutch and Danish markets – 2024-02-21 16:30:33

As part of her participation in the Informal Council of Ministers of Tourism of the European Union, Minister Zaritsa Dinkova held working meetings with the delegations of the Netherlands and Denmark. At the working meetings, the possibilities for promoting the tourist flow and promoting our country as a tourist destination in both countries were discussed.

In 2023, the visits of Dutch tourists to our country will be over 94,000. “Bulgaria is an attractive destination with many different opportunities for tourism – cultural, eco, sea, mountain, spa and wellness, wine and culinary,” Minister Dinkova pointed out.

Director of Industrial Policy and Top Sectors in the Ministry of Economy and Climate Policy in the Netherlands – Serpil Tashioglu, pointed out that Bulgaria has the potential to attract more tourists from the Netherlands, as they are becoming more concerned about environmental protection and are looking for more sustainable products, while at the same time having an attitude to discover new destinations.

In the past year 2023, about 40 thousand visits of tourists from Denmark to our country were recorded. Leading destinations for them were the municipalities of Nessebar, Varna, Stolichna, Balchik and Plovdiv. “Bulgaria has focused its efforts on strengthening the image of our country as a safe and competitive destination that offers exceptional opportunities for recovery and recreation, combined with healing mineral waters and spa procedures. The variety of historical sights, cultural events, festivals, culinary experiences and Bulgarian wine satisfy even the most sophisticated tastes,” said Minister Dinkova during her meeting with Anders Thurgaard – Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Business and Finance of Denmark.

Turgard noted that tourists from Denmark have an increased interest in visiting countries from the Balkan Peninsula and especially in the youth travel segment. He noted that after the pandemic caused by Covid-19, Danes are looking for opportunities for health tourism and recreation.

The promotion of contacts between Bulgaria, Denmark and the Netherlands in tourism is a logical step in the direction of strengthening cooperation and understanding between North-West and South-East Europe, which is also the basis of the European cohesion policy.
