The Ministry of Tourism Clarifies Policy on Prepaid Excursions to Jordan and Egypt

In connection with those admitted to Ministry of Tourism inquiries from tour operators and users of tourist services in relation to refusal of customers from the implementation of prepaid excursions to Israel’s neighboring countries Jordan and Egypt and on the occasion of the announcement fourth level of risk from the Situation Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from there they specified several important things.

“The risk index is determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry of Tourism does not have the legal authority and functional competence to determine this index, as it is subject to a comprehensive assessment of the international situation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the department said.

“Regarding the request of tour operators to receive instructions from the Ministry of Tourism on follow-up actions for travel to Jordan and Egypt, we clarify that in the specific situation for these countries the requirement to apply the clauses in the travel package contract signed between the tour operator and the client remains valid“, they added.

The Ministry of Tourism has no legal mechanisms, on which to intervene in private legal relations, which in practice are the contracts between the tour operator and the users of tourist packages, the department also indicated.
