/ world today news/ Migrants with aggressive behavior enter our country. This was announced by the chief commissioner of the Ministry of the Interior, Georgi Kostov, during a meeting with mayors and deputy mayors in Malko Tarnovo, the press center of the Ministry of the Interior announced.
The reason for the meeting is the increased refugee flow. It is the first of a series coming up next week in the border municipalities.
We remind you that yesterday it became clear that there is a huge increase in migrants in the refugee centers in our country.
Kostov explained that recently there are signs of a change in the profile of migrants entering the country illegally – both in terms of nationality and origin, and in terms of age. Their behavior pattern has also changed.
Georgi Kostov specified that a markedly more aggressive type of behavior or manifestations of a form of aggression was observed. These conclusions are drawn on the basis of cases with detainees in the closed centers of the Migration Directorate, as well as open-type centers of the State Agency for Refugees (DAB).
The ethnic composition of the illegally entered migrants is predominantly not from the zones of potential military conflict, emphasized the chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He drew attention to the fact that these are facts that should be made public so that citizens do not try to counteract it themselves. Instead, they should have reported to the Border Police.
Kostov assured that at the moment there are no places with breaches in the barrier facility. The introduced practice of mobile checkpoints for sudden inspections of cars for the possible transport of illegal immigrants continued.
The Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also announced that attempts to illegally cross the border have decreased by nearly 60% compared to last year. He noted that compared to last year, the migratory pressure is extremely favorable.
Kostov noted that even last year, compared to Greece, illegal immigrants penetrated our country many times less. He emphasized that this presents us with the challenge to once again prove to our European partners that our border continues to be secure and professionally guarded by the Border Police forces, assisted by the DG National Police and the Bulgarian Army.
The Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs admitted that in order to solve this problem, the support of the local government and the entire civil society is needed.
The Ministry of the Interior expects people in the border areas to alert the Border Police, as they are sufficiently well prepared and know how to navigate perfectly by seeing in the distance whether a group of illegally entered migrants.
Border policemen would periodically visit the mayor’s deputies to improve coordination between rank-and-file border officials and the population.
The mayor of Malko Tarnovo Iliyan Yanchev is categorical, quoted by a BNR correspondent, that there is no tension between migrants and local people. The refugees passed along certain paths in Strandja, he explained.
Meanwhile, police actions continue in Sofia. About 20 illegal migrants were caught in another operation. They were caught during checks in hostels in the area around the Central Station, as well as during actions on the streets in the area. Foreigners did not have personal documents.
In the last two days, the metropolitan police reported a decrease in the number of illegal migrants caught. However, their daily shares will not be discontinued.
In an interview with the national radio, Deputy Minister of the Interior Filip Gunev stated that since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Defense has intercepted 29,000 attempts to illegally cross the border by migrants.
The police detained over 10,000 foreigners.
Gunev noted that August and September are the busiest in terms of migrant pressure on our borders. He believes that the current migrant wave is about 30% weaker than that of last year.
According to data as of last week, a total of 10,209 foreigners were detained. Most of them were caught in the interior of the country. 3,200 were detained at the entrance to the state border, and 2,800 at the exit.
Philip Gunev noted that the number of Syrians trying to cross our border has significantly decreased. 80% of the detainees are Afghans – mostly young men. In July, 2,300 people were detained in the country, of which 1,700 were from Afghanistan.
The accusations by politicians to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for poor work on guarding the Bulgarian-Turkish border, Gunev described as untenable.
