The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing took stock of the situation of the municipality of Saint-Calixte, which no longer has a quorum after the resignation of a fourth councilor two weeks ago.
After the opinion of the clerk or the secretary-treasurer of the situation, the ministry informs the Commission municipale du Québec. The latter will administer the municipality during the period when the council can no longer hold meetings.
During the provisional administration, the Commission replaces the municipal council by adopting the resolutions in its place so that the municipality can continue to function. The decisions of the Commission have the same effect as those adopted by the municipal council.
The members delegated by the Commission will ensure the administration of the municipality and the maintenance of services to citizens, until new councilors achieve quorum.
On December 14, a fourth advisor, Denis Mantha, resigned from his post for family reasons.
