The Ministry of Labor spoke about measures to support former prisoners of fascist camps | Society

In honor of the International Day of the Liberation of Nazi Concentration Camp Prisoners, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection spoke about measures to support former prisoners, reports BELTA.

Currently, 6.6 thousand former prisoners of fascism live in Belarus and are supported by the state. “Every year, employees of local authorities visit former prisoners of fascism, examine their living conditions and, if necessary, provide assistance in social services, putting things in order at home and in the yard,” the Ministry of Labor noted.

This year, such a survey was completed by March 20. Almost all social and domestic issues have been resolved, with the exception of seasonal ones (mowing grass, storing fuel for the winter, etc.). Subsequently, these requests will be executed in a timely manner.

Also, former prisoners of fascism were given the right to priority care in healthcare organizations and priority hospitalization. They are provided with specialized medical care in four hospitals for disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

Various guarantees are provided in the field of pension provision for this category. Thus, the time spent in fascist concentration camps (ghettos and other places of forced detention) is taken into account at double the length of service when assigning a pension. For former prisoners, a monthly pension increase has been established by 100% of the minimum age pension (in April 2024 – 101 rubles). And taking into account age allowances for persons over 80 years of age, the monthly increase in pension amounts to more than 250 rubles.

Also, in accordance with the decision of the head of state, every year on Victory Day, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and former prisoners of fascism receive financial assistance.

This year, former prisoners of fascism will receive one-time assistance in the amount of 1,000 rubles.
